How Do Water Sensors Work? Sensing Mechanisms: Water sensors employ different sensing mechanisms, such as conductivity, capacitance, and optical sensors. Find out how murky the water is by measuring this distance. Secchi disks are a fast, cheap way to detect turbidity in large bodies of water, but they’re not precise.
